Petition update8 executions in 10 days? No way, Arkansas.Petition Delivery & Candlelight Vigil Tonight

Arkansas Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty

Apr 24, 2017
At 7 PM tonight, the executions of two inmates will begin: Jack Jones and Marcel Williams. They both appealed to the courts for a stay of execution, and were both denied. Now, their stay requests are up to the U.S. Supreme Court.
With only a few hours before tonight’s executions, we’re doing all we can to make sure these men live to see another day. Today, we delivered over 200,000 signatures (including yours) of people who oppose this killing spree taking place right now in Arkansas, directly to the desk of Governor Hutchinson.
This weekend alone, over 18,000 people signed this petition to voice their opposition of these executions. The national media is covering these deaths on a daily basis, yet Governor Asa Hutchinson and the state of Arkansas are still determined to put these men to death.
But the fight isn’t over yet. That’s why we’re asking you to join us at the Governor’s Mansion tonight at 6 PM in a vigil for Jones and Williams. The more of us show up at that vigil, the more attention from the media we’ll get—and the more pressure there will be on the Governor to put a stop to these executions before more men die.
Will you join us tonight to stand up for Jack Jones, Marcel Williams, and their families? Here are the details:
What - Candlelight Vigil for Death Row inmates Jack Jones and Marcel Williams
Where - Governor’s Mansion: 1800 Center St, Little Rock, AR 72206
When - 6 PM
An optional service will take place at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, located at 310 W 17th St. in Little Rock beforehand at 5 PM for those who would like to attend.
Please pass this update along to anyone you know who may be interested in attending, in addition to sharing it over social media. The bigger the turnout, the louder our cry.
