Hello,

We hope all is as well as can be in this ongoing challenging time.  Thank you very much for signing  Democracy Watch’s Stop Any Snap Election petition here on Change.org.

While the Governor General didn’t say no to Prime Minister Trudeau’s snap election call, you and the more than 20,000 other people who signed the petition raised public awareness about just how bad an idea snap elections are, as this election campaign has shown.

For example, see this Global News article published just a couple of days after the petition was launched, when 2,500 people had already signed the petition.

Snap elections are not only unfair, they are illegal.  That's why Democracy Watch has filed a court case challenging Trudeau’s snap election call – with the hope that the courts will rule, like the British Supreme Court ruled unanimously in 2019, that the Prime Minister can’t just shut down Parliament whenever he wants without a good reason.

Democracy Watch also filed court cases challenging the B.C. Premier’s snap election call last fall, and the New Brunswick Premier’s snap election call.

Please click here now to find out more and support these court cases and Democracy Watch’s campaign to stop snap elections across Canada.

I am also writing to provide you with Democracy Watch’s Special Election Update – as Monday, Sept. 20th is election day.
