MassACT is protesting the unfair treatment of people living inside psychiatric hospitals and other group settings such as group homes, nursing homes, and rehabilitation and treatment centers. 

Recent news reports of Covid-19 running rampant in psychiatric hospitals like Tewksbury and Shattuck hospitals, are evidence of the government’s failure to provide the resources and policies that will protect people in these settings from infection from Covid-19.

In these congregate living settings, social distancing is not enforced, and facilities are inadequately disinfected. These group settings do not have the space or alternative locations to adequately quarantine and isolate Covid-19 positive individuals. No attempts are being made to move discharge-ready individuals from these dangerous environments by providing safe housing and support.

MassACT is demanding immediate action by the legislature and the Baker administration to address the conditions in these psychiatric settings that put residents’ lives at risk.
