Yesterday Barnstable High School announced at 4:18 pm that all winter sports would be put on hold with NO games or practices till January 24th!! This hold on Athletics needs to be overturned. Where are the NUMBERS that state these sports should be shut down. What are these high numbers the email states because from what everyone has heard they are a handful!! Why are we the only school that is shutting ALL sports down for ten days! Again show us the numbers! This season has been running smoothly with the stay and test program along with athletes and coaches following the mask guidelines. The only time a school has shutdown an entire team is when the majority of the team has tested positive. You do NOT shut down entire teams and programs for one case or a handful of cases! The kids deserve to play - they need to play- being with their teams is the safest place for them! LET THEM PLAY!!! Sign this petition and let’s get them back out there next week!  Other schools have gotten their programs shortened. There is NO reason and entire athletic program shuts down for 10 days and then expects these teams to be able to be back competing when they have lost all that time practicing ! LET BARNSTABLE ATHLETES PLAY!
