A justiça marcou para o próximo dia 1° de dezembro, terça-feira, audiência do processo que discute a posse do território da Aldeia Maracanã.¹ Em plena pandemia da Covid-19!
Nossa preocupação em relação ao destino das famílias que estão morando na Aldeia é imensa, sobretudo com uma eventual injusta reintegração de posse para o Estado e consequente despejo, colocando em risco, em momento tão delicado, a vida de indígenas idosos, crianças e deficientes. Lembrando que a letalidade deste vírus pouco conhecido é ainda maior entre os indígenas.
O quadro de contaminações e mortes ainda é crítico no Brasil e mais especificamente na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Assim, todo esforço deve ser voltado para a suspensão do processo, evitando a reintegração de posse e brutalidade policial.
Nós seguiremos resistindo no local. E faremos uma vigília cultural com o apoio e a participação de quem puder estar junto.

ALDEIA MARACANÃ INDIGENOUS VILLAGE UNDER THREAT AGAIN.
The court has scheduled a trial, for next Tuesday, December 1st, of the legal process that discusses the possession of the Aldeia Maracanã land.¹ In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic!
We are hugely concerned about the fate of the families who are living in the Aldeia, especially with an eventual unfair reintegration of possession to the State and consequent eviction, putting at risk, at such a delicate moment, the lives of indigenous elderly, children and handicapped. Remembering that the lethality of this rather unknown virus is even greater among indigenous people.
The contamination and death framework are still critical in Brazil and more specifically in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Therefore, every effort must be directed to avoid any repossession and police brutality.
We will continue to resist on the spot. And we will have a cultural watch with the support and participation of those who can be together.
