On the first quarter of 2021 a young girl "fathima rippa" (9 years) was beaten to death by a cane, and there was a viral vedio of a mother(24) beating a young infant( 9 months) using a cane in (ariyalai, jaffna) . The parents and the people involved was arrested by the police.

Cane weaving is practised in a number of villages in Sri Lanka, passed down through generations. It is the life line of hundreds of people. Thus the canes sticks produced to beat up livestock and children, have shown a high demand in the markets.  promoting cane items which are useful household items could benifit the cane industry related person's, rather than producing items which PROMOTE violence.

When the cane sticks are not available in the market the number of people tend to beat up children would significantly reduce. Thus thier kids would not beat up thier kids in inhumane ways. when cane sticks are available in the market. The mind of a innocent mother would also change thinking beating thier kid is the only way to make them better. That is not true. There are hundreds of other alternatives. Not promote violence!
