Sign on to this petition to tell Doug Ford and the present governement of Ontario to KEEP THEIR INEXPERIENCED HANDS OFF THE TTC SUBWAY AND NOT TO UPLOAD IT TO THE PROVINCE.  RATHER  -- FUND THE TTC FULLY AND LET THE TTC'S  EXPERIENCED PROFESSIONALS RUN AND EXPAND THE SYSTEM.

 The Case here:

Doug Ford, the premier of Ontario, is proposing to unilaterally upoload only the subway component of the TTC to the control of the provincial government.

Ford has put forward no practical reason why this should be done or what the benefits for this are.  

As premier, he has demonstrated his complete disdain for this city. He and his government have no experience in operating a subway system, nor a highly integrated transit system that transports over 500 million riders a year.

The TTC is a great asset to the City of Toronto and IT WORKS.  Even with chronic provincial underfunding.  It may not be perfect, but if given proper funding it would be close.  

If the subway is ripped out of the heart of the system by an inexperienced premier and given to people who don't answer to the users of the TTC, it will only get worse.  Ford's unexplained plans would just add layers of new, inexperienced, unnescesary and costly  bureaucracy  --  while offering nothing of value to the citizens of Toronto and the users of the TTC.  

Properly funding the TTC, the way most provinces/states do with large municipal transit systems, would allow the highly experienced TTC to make the existing system the envy of the continent.  They know how to run a transit system - Doug Ford and his existing party  --- well, how did "buck a beer" work for you?  Who would you rather have running your transit system?

We ride the subway. We ride the TTC. MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD SO THAT THE PROVINCE'S GOVERNMENT DOES WHAT CITIZEN'S WANT.

I have created this petition because I am a lifelong TTC rider and want to maintain the integrity of this great and promising system.
