Grant of licenses to grow industrial hemp in karnataka

The Issue

Industrial hemp industry is lacking its pace in India due to the heavy import burden of raw materials from far away countries and some of the state's in India which resulting in high market price for out products which not easily affordable by the majority of people.

Even though there is a standing statute in karnataka that enables the authorities to provide licences to grow hemp for the industrial purposes, the provisions remained unaccomplished since 55 years as the rule making authority has not considered its industrial utility though the legislator intended to do so.

If the rules made under those provisions are rectified by the government of karnataka it will be a boon to hemp industry and its beneficiaries.
