Good morning everyone,

The petition has been steadily growing and arrangements have been made to get it delivered to the correct people.

Quite a few things has come to light about this company, Synergy World Power, and none of it is good. It would seem they are not stable enough, financially or environmentally, to have any kind of business in the waste management sector. They have settled cases in court for defaulting on payments and aren’t even able to cover their rent for office space which means they operate out of a residential address.

When interviewed about their process and asked about the byproduct, they skirt around this answer. They have described one of the results of this process as a fine grit like sand. Truth is, this fine grit like sand is micro plastics (the toxic plastic that no one has figured out how to dispose of properly) This fine plastics are the plastics that we now know are getting into our fish and wildlife. We all know how windy it is in this province and the plan is to send this fine plastic (Among other byproducts) to the Norris Arm site. You cannot tell me that a portion of this won’t end up in our environment.

All that being said, we are making progress. SNAGG (Say No To American Garbage Group) which is a local environmental protection group has wholeheartedly jumped on board with this cause and they have written a very strongly worded letter to make it very clear, they will not stand for this proposal. This is not their first time fighting this and their support is just as huge as yours.

We have two rallies happening this Saturday, February 12 at 11:00 am. One in Lewisporte where this plant is proposed (at the town hall) and one in St. John’s (same day and time) at the colonial building. If you can join us in either location, please do!

Please, if you haven’t already, send an email voicing your concerns to both of the following emails: (you can CC both email addresses):

EAProjectcomments@gov.nl.ca

bernarddavis@gov.nl.ca

These emails are of the utmost importance. They’re similar to the petition BUT they are the most direct way to make your voice heard. The deadline for these emails are Feb. 16, so please send that email now!

Please continue to share this petition, the more names we have, the louder our voices are!

Thank you everyone! Let’s get to the finish for the WIN!
