Eliminating all Shark nets and Shark culling in Australia

Eliminating all Shark nets and Shark culling in Australia
The issue
Sharks are a critical keystone species. They maintain the balance of life in the sea and keep our coral reefs healthy. But global fisheries kill millions of sharks each year, and sharks are now in peril throughout the world.
Drum lines are baited hooks used to trap a shark for tagging.
shark nets are used to deter sharks from public beaches; however, sharks, dolphins, turtles, and seals often get caught in the net, becoming trapped for days in distress and in some cases, eventually dying before being found and released. Shark nets are still used through-out Australia and Shark culling is still legal in NSW and QLD.
It’s important we make this illegal to prevent further damaging our Ocean’s ecosystem, which is also our main life support. Sharks are imperative to the marine ecosystem, they keep the ocean healthy and thriving, which allows us to be healthy and thriving.
Killing creatures in their own habitat just so that we can ‘safely’ swim in their home is unfair, damaging, and cruel. We do not own, nor will we ever own the ocean, we have no right. How would you like it if someone invaded your home, trapped you for days leaving you distressed and traumatised until you eventually and slowly, died? That’d be awful, wouldn’t it? WE’RE destroying our own life. You say you’re protecting us and sharks but you’re just killing Sharks.
just to clear things up, Sharks don’t have a taste for humans. In most attacks towards humans, it’s a case of mistaken identity due to poor vision. When and if a shark does continuously attack and eat a human, it is because they are starved.
Due to humans overfishing, we have limited a sharks natural food source, we are starving them which leads to more fatal attacks towards humans, we are starting to leave them no choice but to feed on us.
Humans are solely to blame for our own attacks, so to hunt and kill a shark is wrong. It’s not safety, its revenge and payback for something that is our fault to begin with.
Officials have said themselves that shark nets are ineffective to a shark that is determined. In case you haven’t noticed, even with the nets, there’s still attacks. So, what is the point in keeping something so dangerous up? Is it just to kill marine life? Baited drum lines and shark nets must be made illegal for the safety, respect, and care of all marine creatures. Just a reminder... we will always be at risk when we enter their home, and you must always be aware of that.
The reason I care so much about this is because I have been so infatuated with sharks and marine creatures my whole life, and I don't want to see something be blamed, threatened and cruelly killed in it's own home for it's natural state because I know I wouldn't like to be treated that way, I know that it is wrong and all the negative actions taken against sharks are cruel and lack empathy. They're living and we are living we must empathise with the creatures who keep our world healthy, we must empathise with the biggest source of life that continues to be our main life support.
