Environmentalist wins Journalist of the Year Award
Prolific documentary journalist and environmental advocate, whose works have exposed the devastating effect of Ghana's irresponsible mining craze on our land, rivers and forest reserves, has won the top journalism award in the country - Journalist of the Year 2022.
Erastus Asare Donkor of Multimedia Limited has, over the past years, documented, in great detail and sometimes, at enormous risk to himself and his team, the devastating effect of irresponsible mining carried out with the connivance, and sometimes the direct participation of Ghana's political elite. Here are some of his groundbreaking work.
His latest work, Poisoned for Gold, documents the health impact of the indiscriminate destruction of Ghana's rivers and lands with mercury, cyanide and other heavy metals used in surface mining.
