We stand united as  voicing our concerns over observed disparities within the organization. It has come to our attention that different segments of the MTA workforce are awarded varying amounts of telecommuting days. In pursuit of fairness and unity, we urge the MTA to standardize its policy, ensuring equal treatment across all departments. An employer could face legal claims of disparate treatment or disparate impact discrimination if it doesn't apply telecommuting policies equitably among its workforce.

Additionally, we call for a comprehensive reevaluation of budgeting practices, highlighting the significant role real estate costs play in overall expenses. This is a crucial factor that must be included in budgetary deliberations to enable the most effective decision-making.

We strongly advocate for a minimum of two telecommute days for all MTA employees who can. Our workforce has demonstrated unwavering dedication, especially during the recent pandemic, and such commitment deserves to be recognized and rewarded.

We also call for the timely resumption of regular cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) for staff. Inflation continues to rise while our employees' compensation remains static, a trend that must be promptly addressed.

Considering the successful adoption of telecommuting during the pandemic, we urge the MTA to permit office staff to continue working remotely. This strategy offers multiple advantages: it saves on operational costs, reduces strain on our transit system, and provides a work-life balance for our staff.

Studies estimate that U.S. employers lose approximately $1.8 trillion annually due to productivity losses. Telecommuting can significantly curtail such losses, offering an effective solution to enhance overall productivity. Moreover, it reduces our carbon footprint, improves employee health and wellbeing, and allows the older generation to remain in the workforce.

In conclusion, the benefits of telecommuting extend beyond the individual employee to the organization at large. Telecommuting offers financial advantages, decreases employee turnover, and contributes to the MTA's sustainability goals.

We implore all who read this to lend their support to these significant changes. By signing and sharing this petition, we can collectively bring about positive, sustainable transformation within the MTA. Your support is vital in ensuring that the MTA continues to be a leading example of service excellence.
