Urgent clemency for Coronavirus at-risk 76 yr old non-violent inmate in Ohio state prison.
The Issue
My 76 year old father, Hugo Martinsons, who has already served the minimum term for his non-violent offenses, has lung issues and would most likely not survive contracting coronavirus. The virus is currently spreading throughout Marion Correctional, which he is housed. The prison facility is on lockdown with those infected put in isolation. Even with mitigation and containment efforts by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction, it is highly probable my father becomes infected and dies. His chances of survival will be far greater if released and sheltered in place with his caring family. The Governor and parole board have the ability to grant him clemency and his immediate release. Hugo has been a model prisoner, finished multiple college courses, put great effort into rehabilitation, and would pose zero risk to the public. Our family is financially stable and our father would no longer be a burden on society and taxpayers. Please take the time to sign our petition along with contacting Governor DeWine so we can get our father released into a safer environment. We appreciate your support.
