Things are moving faster than expected, and we are making good progress. Within one week, a Congressional Inquiry was filed, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been officially notified.  Because the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) receives federal funding and must adhere to federal regulations, the Georgia EPD can and should be federally investigated for its handling of Burn Ban and Air Quality complaints.  

Next up is an official letter to Georgia Governor Brian Kemp.  Though no elected official should ever need a petition to take action when residents are being exposed to harmful, toxic chemicals, we know nothing changes without public demand.

You may also tweet #InvestigateGAEPD directly to @EPA and @EPAMichaelRegan. The EPA maintains that the biggest health threat from smoke is fine particulate matter or PM2.5. These inhalable particles can get into your eyes, respiratory system, trigger asthma attacks, heart attacks, stroke, irregular heart rhythms, and heart failure. Once inhaled, PM2.5 can induce damage throughout the body. Smoke from open burning also impacts our fur babies; just one burning event can contribute to long-term health problems for animals.
