This Valentine Day – which is a festival of love - let us forget negativity and celebrate love - something that the world needs in times when hatred, hostilities and wars make news on a daily basis. When countries across the globe are trying to intimidate each with missile and nuclear threats, Valentine Day reminds us that peaceful coexistence is the only way forward. May be we cannot solve all the problems in the world, but what can surely make the world a better place is a little more love and concern for fellow human beings.
Valentine Day is not just about giving roses, chocolates, gifts and cards to those whom we love. In a broader sense, it is about universal peace, caring for others, embracing even your enemies, efforts to spread love instead of violence and bigotry.
Gandhiji demonstrated aptly - in his personal, community and political life - that love and nonviolence are the only enduring means to conquer hatred and violence.
