The Issue
Many people asked Sir Lesley Longley (played by Anthony Field) from the Wiggly archives if he has 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio versions of Wiggle Bay, Whoo Hoo! Wiggly Gremlins! and Top of the Tots. And he might have said he does have them. But now we want to see all three of them released in 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio on YouTube. I hope you OG Wiggles fans agree to my petition and sign and share.
Wiggle Bay, Whoo Hoo! Wiggly Gremlins! and Top of the Tots were all filmed in 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio and aired on ABC TV Australia, but on every home video release, only 4:3 crops are used.
But on the Australian VHS release, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu and iTunes digital download and The Wiggles YouTube channel upload of Wiggle Bay, 14:9 aspect ratio crops are used.
Whoo Hoo! Wiggly Gremlins! was also in 14:9 aspect ratio on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Vudu and iTunes digital download as well.
We also want to see all 3 of them in 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio on Netflix, iTunes and Amazon Prime Video as well.
Because we're getting bored watching them in the same 4:3 fullscreen aspect ratio all the time.
The Wiggles uploaded the 14:9 master of Wiggle Bay onto their YouTube channel, slightly squished to 4:3. They also uploaded the 14:9 master of Whoo Hoo! Wiggly Gremlins! onto their YouTube channel, covered/cropped with 4:3 Wiggly colored borders.
Not to mention the 14:9 master of Wiggle Bay on FilmRise, Plex, Peacock and Tubi was slightly squished to 4:3.
Need I say more? The 14:9 master of Whoo Hoo! Wiggly Gremlins! was cropped to 4:3 on FilmRise, Peacock and Plex.
Top of the Tots is in 4:3 on HappyKids, FilmRise, The Wiggles (AVOD app), Peacock and Plex. And it had 4:3 Wiggly colored borders when it was uploaded onto The Wiggles' YouTube channel.
I'd also like to add that on HappyKids and The Wiggles (AVOD app) while Wiggle Bay is presented correctly in 14:9 aspect ratio via letterbox format, Whoo Hoo! Wiggly Gremlins! is presented in the cropped 4:3 fullscreen aspect ratio used on its home video release when it was meant to be presented in 14:9 aspect ratio via letterbox format like Wiggle Bay.
Some airings of Wiggle Bay and Whoo Hoo! Wiggly Gremlins! are featured in digital 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio on ABC TV Australia.
