Dear Friends and Supporters,

 On February 8th, 2021 Google sent out an email informing users that their music data and playlist data will be deleted if the switch to YouTube Music is not initiated. There is another option of downloading your music. I suggest this option. At least that way,  all of your purchases and promotional music will be with you. You can then choose what to do with it. If you decide to transfer your music to YouTube music, that's fine too. I'm still not sure what I'm going to decide. Just keep the pressure on YouTube Music to try to bring the services close to Google Play Music as possible. There are some key requests:

* We want to be able to listen to and enjoy the music that we own (purchased or obtained a free promotional copy) free of advertisements.

*We want to be able to listen to music in the background with the screen off without paying a monthly fee.

* We want to be able to download music that we own to any device without the Restriction of having to be a member of YouTube Music premium.

There are other wants and needs from some former Google play music subscribers. If you do make the switch to YouTube music, make sure you use the 'send feedback' option to voice your concerns. You can also make your voice heard by sending feedback through the traditional Google app.

Premium services are fine and the ability to access millions of albums for a monthly fee is absolutely acceptable; what's not is charging users a fee to access music they already own - or force them to listen to commercials when accessing music we have the rights to. 

I started this petition six months ago, and although I promoted the heck out of it, I was only able to get a little less than 1000 signatures. I want to thank everyone for signing, sharing and I especially greatly appreciate all that have donated. I mean this. Just know that your donations were not in vain - as part of the donation goes to keeping the Change.org platform operating.

Keep enjoying that music and happy listening. You can't win every fight but you won't know unless you give it a shot. 

As for me personally, I've switched to Spotify.
