Reverse your decision to require Android developers who sell apps on Google Play to publicly disclose their physical address
The Issue
While providing physical addresses of developers to paying customers (as Google already does) is reasonable, requiring all developers who sell apps to disclose their address publicly before payment poses a significant privacy and safety risk to developers without a dedicated business address.
User response to even minor faults in software can already be vitriolic, but up until now such hostility was contained to online reviews, email, and other digital mediums. Allowing public access to physical addresses increases such exposure and allows harmful rhetoric to become harmful action, threatening small developers and their families.
If this new policy is in response to a new law, we ask that developers are given the option to cease sales in the jurisdiction(s) where the law applies, rather than choosing between disclosing our physical address or not selling apps anywhere.
