Protest: Enforce Dark by Default & Stop Environmental Exploitation in Finland (#GoogleGiveBackFinland)

Dear Mr. Pichai,

As a supporter of the campaign for digital sustainability, I am writing to strongly condemn Google's recent actions in Finland.

According to Finnish environmental regulators, your subsidiary illegally cleared an estimated 250,000 trees across 330 hectares of forest in Muhos—and up to 400,000 trees including Otanmäki—before the required environmental impact assessments were completed. Stripping entire forests and removing topsoil to rush AI infrastructure buildouts is a direct violation of environmental standards and local trust.

While Google claims to show climate leadership, leaving massive physical scars in rural Finland tells a different story. If you want to minimize your massive digital carbon footprint, you must start by turning environmental protection into the software default: Enforce Dark Mode by default for billions of users instantly to save energy.

Furthermore, we demand that Google fully rectifies the damage in Muhos, Vaala, and Kajaani by delivering a massive digital and physical forest restoration back to our planet.

Sign, share, and demand systemic change. #DarkByDefault #GoogleGiveBackFinland

Sincerely,
[ Your Name]
