**Only 20 Signatures So Far — Is That All We Can Do to Protect Our Planet?**

"I am deeply moved. I am aware that roses and plants are creatures of the same Creator as we ourselves, and I find increasing joy in this participation—in this shared process of creation alongside everything that nature brings forth. I believe that this awareness of co-creating with all living beings should penetrate ever more deeply into our thoughts and feelings. It could serve as a counterweight to our thoughtless, technology-driven material development—and thus lead us back to the roses, to the flowers, and to that nature to which we ourselves belong."
This spontaneous response from my friend, Dr. Albert Hofmann, on the occasion of his 100th birthday, when I presented him with 100 Baccara roses, should serve as a wake-up call to us all.
It reminds us of the urgent need to rethink our relationship with technology and the corporations that dominate our digital world. Reports of large-scale tree felling in Finland linked to Google's data-centre expansion raise serious questions about the environmental cost of the seemingly limitless growth pursued by global tech giants. When corporations driven by an almost senseless gigantomania compete for resources and strategic advantages, we must ask ourselves: at what cost to our planet?
This is precisely why I believe this petition matters. Encouraging the use of dark mode on Google's homepage may seem like a small step, but it represents something larger: a willingness to question unnecessary consumption and to make more responsible choices, even in the smallest details of our digital lives.
And yet, I cannot help feeling dismayed that we, a humanity so thoroughly interconnected through computers and digital networks, still seem unable to mobilise the collective support needed to act before we reach a point of no return.
If we can connect billions of people at the touch of a button, surely we can also unite behind a simple, constructive demand for greater environmental responsibility.
Please share this petition and add your signature. Every signature helps send Google a message: technological progress must not come at the expense of the natural world. Even a small change can become a powerful signal when millions of people stand behind it.
