Good Samaritan Overdose Law

Good Samaritan Overdose Law
The Issue
Kansas is one of two states that has not adopted this law. This law will protect people who are calling 911 in the case of an overdose. They will be granted immunity for personal possession and paraphernalia because they are saving someone’s life.
Had this law been in place before now it would have saved so many lives. Studies show that 70% of all people who use drugs will witness nonfatal overdose in their lifetime, almost unanimously they say they are afraid to get in trouble or arrested and are afraid to call 911.
Now is the time to act! With illicit fentanyl on the rise and so many deaths caused by it we need this law in place to save our youth, family, friends, our children! After Washington passed the law they did a new study and 90+% of people say they will call 911 knowing that they will be protected!
We have bipartisan support on this bill and we have so many other people supporting this law for example Wyandotte County health department, PARS,FENTANYL FATHERS, keepin’ clean for Coop, Kaylee’s Dad is Mad, and Kansas families fighting fentanyl. We also have support from Johnson county mental health center and Johnson County Prevention & Recovery Coalition
WE CANT BRING BACK OUR CHILDREN BUT WE CAN HELP SAVE OTHERS!
