On 2 August 2026, it was confirmed that Cha Eun Woo has exercised his legal right to appeal the National Tax Service's assessment through South Korea's Tax Tribunal after paying the full assessed amount. This demonstrates that the matter is now where it belongs—in the hands of the appropriate legal authorities through the due process available to every citizen.

Throughout this process, Cha Eun Woo has chosen to comply with the authorities while exercising his legal rights. By paying the assessed amount in full before pursuing an appeal, he has shown respect for the systems and procedures.

As supporters, we are proud of the conduct he has demonstrated—not only as an artist, but also as a citizen, a soldier currently serving his country, and someone who has consistently fulfilled his civic responsibilities as a taxpayer. Whatever the Tribunal ultimately decides, we believe he has conducted himself with dignity, responsibility, and respect for the law.

From the beginning, this petition was never about seeking special treatment or influencing the outcome of tax reviews and procedure or amounts due. It was about advocating for principles that should apply to every citizen:

The right to due process
Fair and factual reporting
Respect for legal procedures before public judgment
Recognition that exercising the right to appeal is a legitimate part of the justice system

While we did not receive formal responses from all of the organisations we had hoped, we believe this petition has nevertheless achieved something meaningful. We have seen reporting become more measured and increasingly focused on verified facts as the story developed. We hope this encourages the same standard of fairness not only for Cha Eun Woo, but for any public figure facing similar legal or administrative proceedings in the future.

With the appeal now underway, we feel this matter can be put to rest publicly while the legal process continues independently. We have confidence that the appropriate institutions will consider the case according to the law, and we believe it is now right to allow that process to take its course without further speculation.

As we bring this petition to a close, we want to thank every single person who signed, shared, and supported this call for fairness for Cha Eun Woo and helped amplify its message: THANK YOU FOR STANDING WITH CHA EUN WOO FOR A FAIR PROCESS!.

We hope this petition has also contributed to a broader conversation about treating celebrities and public figures with fairness while personal matters are being resolved. Your support gave a voice to the principle that fairness, due process, and responsible reporting should always be respected for every individual.
