Thank you to all who have signed the petition and got in touch with their local elected representatives to show their support for Glasgow's threatened Citizens Advice Bureaux. I cannot thank you enough.

When I started this petition, I didn't expect so many people to join forces to defend our local CABx who have been working to support our city throughout the COVID19 pandemic, and in the years running up to now. We owe every worker and volunteer in our local CABx offices a debt of gratitude.

As the organiser of this petition, I just wanted you to see some of the messages that have come in from CABx staff in awe of the support you have all shown them.

"Thank you so much! You don't understand how much this petition means to other CABx workers."

"We've been blown away by the support we've had. Its great knowing that your community is behind you."

"The thought of not being here for folk, for our communities, not being able to help with the mountain of problems coming down the line is tearing me up."

"It’s a great feeling that we have the backing of our community."

At times, we've taken Citizens Advice Bureaux for granted but they need us now to fight their corner. Vulnerable people from all walks of life, across the city of Glasgow, need us to fight their corner to prevent a possible humanitarian crisis within Glasgow should the Bureaux be forced to close or suffer cuts in funding. Glasgow City Council must remedy this funding uncertainty!

We are in the midst of the worst global health crisis in generations, the end of furlough is coming and a no-deal Brexit is on the horizon. We need our Citizens Advice Bureaux, now more than ever given the uncertainty.

Tomorrow, the 2nd September at 1pm, there will be a protest made up of CABx staff, friends, and supporters outside Glasgow City Chambers.

We would like to see a strong presence, mindful of physical distancing requirements, and other safety requirements but even if you can't make it, keep sharing the petition, keep emailing your councillors and let your local CABx know they have your support.

It literally means the world to them.
