Welsh Assembly Government Audit - ACTION NEEDED

Dear Supporters, 

Thank you to everyone has signed recently and over the past few weeks.  It means a great deal to our local community to have your support. 

I had intended, once we reached 5000 signatures to ask Gladstone's Library for their comments, and as things appeared to settle and no plans to go ahead with renaming etc, we could potentially have 'declared victory' to use the language of change.org.

However, yesterday the Welsh Government announced an 'urgent audit' of all statues, buildings and street names etc, with 'links' to the slave trade, as you can see in the article attached written by The Daily Post.  Based on their and 'The Leader's' news articles, William Gladstone once again looks set to become a target.  I believe that we must speak up again now and demonstrate that we will not sit back quietly whilst a panel of WAG advisers strongly influence decisions about our local history, and on what basis they determine those decisions being unknown.     PLEASE SHARE THIS PETITION again in light of this new development, even if you signed weeks ago, as we must show that we will use all lawful means to object to any anti-democratic changes to our local history and community.  Gladstone's library commented in their statement that Gladstone himself would likely not have objected to the removal of his own statue if it were the DEMOCRATIC will, however as the democrat, and believer in the voice of the people and their liberty, that Gladstone was, I would suggest that he would be in full support of our democratic wish to keep his statue and namesakes in tact.
