Today is Earth Day. I live on the East Coast in the United States, and as I type, a cozy breeze is sifting in through the windows. It looks like spring, after all. I'm working from home today, which gives me a little more flexibility in being able to draft this letter to you all.
Every day, as I check this petition, I wonder how we ever reached 170,000 people. I can't even imagine what that looks like. The signatures keep growing and your comments fill my heart with joy. Thank you. Thank you for being the caring human that you are.
I thank you all for sending your letters to Feld Entertainment. I also thank you for your continued tweets to Nicole Feld. I have downloaded all of your signatures and comments to send to Ringling Bros. In total, there were OVER 6,000 pages of signatures and comments. That's unreal. Let that sink in. I don't think it's quite sunk in with me, yet....
But that's not why I wanted to send this update. I wanted to thank you, first and foremost, but I also wanted to take the time on Earth Day today to acknowledge just how far we have come in general in saving the only planet we can call home. In particular, Change.org has become a powerful platform from which to make a difference. Dogs are being saved from the streets, orcas and sea animals are being pulled from performance shows, elephants are being given a second chance, more people are recycling, local and government agencies are moving towards more eco-friendly alternatives, self healing and homeopathic remedies are replacing expensive and ineffective drugs....I mean, we're moving, folks. And in those days, when you feel like we're not, when you see one more article on how an animal or human is exploited, think back on all the good that's still there, on all the good people, such as yourself, who are still here in this world. THAT is what and who make a difference. Good always wins. Sometimes, it just takes a while.
I invite you to keep that goodness in your heart as you move through your day today. Our fight against Ringling Bros. will be a long one, but if you stick to your values and keep faith and trust in that for which you stand, there's nothing that can deter us.
I've never written to 170,000 people before. It feels kind of surreal. I've read each and every comment that you've left, and I couldn't thank you enough for your support.
Don't lose hope. There's still an immaculate amount of love that we can share with the world.
P.S. I've attached an article I wrote last week, specifically for Earth Day today. This day is about more than just our petition. It's about the universal effort to come back to our innate balance of being one with ourselves and nature. If it speaks to you, please share it with your world. Thank you!
