TTC fares, more stops, and clean trains on the Union Pearson train line

Toronto has a transit crisis. Riders are sardined into overcrowded buses, street cars, and subways, and traffic congestion is a major problem. We all agree we need more public transit.
So why has the Wynne Government and provincial transit agency, Metrolinx, turned the new Union Station to Pearson Airport train line into a service for the 1%?
Now that the train has started running, we have discovered what we feared; the train is too expensive to ride and virtually no one is boarding.
It's obvious why. It costs $27.50 to board, and the 23 km long line has only two stops between the terminals, even though the line travels through some of Canada's most densely populated areas, including Liberty Village.
The good news is the Wynne Government just directed Metrolinx to review the fare price and make it more useful for downtown commuters.
Now is the time to tell Metrolinx and the Wynne Government to turn this service into a truly useful train line.
Tell Metrolinx and your MPP to:
- charge affordable TTC-level fares and accept fare transfers
- run frequent service, and include more stops
- run clean electric trains asap, not cancerous diesel trains
- keep the service public
