As a New Yorker, it devastates me to witness the downfall of our beloved city, once known for its strength and perseverance. Our great city is now suffering from a wave of increasing gang violence, and is facing a challenging situation with migrants. The administration of Mayor Erik Adams, under which corruption and police misconduct are rampant, is not addressing these issues effectively. This is an indictment of his failed leadership. 

The devastating effects of police misconduct has cost the city's tax payers over $140 million in settling lawsuits in just the first 7 months of 2024. The mishandling of police misconduct cases rarely goes without consequence. Adams former Police Commissioner Edward Caban (now resigned) released what is called "Disciplinary Matrix". Which is intended to circumvent accountability with even lesser penalties for those officers who commit various criminal offenses. This has led to a lack of trust in Eric Adams leadership and corrupt administration.  

Furthermore, the corrupt practices that have been unveiled during his time in office are unacceptable and a betrayal to the people who entrusted him with the city's future. These despicable and heinous acts against New York citizens have led to a feeling of an unsafe and lawless environment. Leaving citizens with rising levels of anxiety and feelings of hopelessness exacerbating the growing mental health crisis. Mayor Adams must be held accountable for these failures, and we, the citizens of New York, demand a thorough investigation into these allegations, along with concrete action against police misconduct and any other branches under his administration.

Our city deserves transparency, safety, and ethical leadership. It's time to bring back our morale and identity.
