Good morning all,

Article: Ofgem Price Cap Set to Rise in January 2026 - with half the increase going to supplier profits?!

Cut your energy bills: Save over £150 a year with EDF

I'm sure most of you have already seen the price cap announcement this morning, a minor increase to be expected. What has shocked me the most is that 50% of the increase is going to supplier profits! That is really unusual! As the price cap hasn't really changed, the EBIT level shouldn't have changed at all.

Anyway, I've written an article above, it gives detail on how these changes affect low, medium and high usage households.

I've also included a link to Uswitch - EDF have released a new tariff today which is almost £160 cheaper than the new price cap for medium usage households. Over 60% of you are still on SVTs, which is the most expensive way to pay for your energy bills!

This is the start of the bad news, with the budget coming up next week I imagine all of our finances are about to be negatively impacted. Try to take control as soon as possible, switch to cheaper tariffs, get cheaper broadband, cut your insurance costs, do what you can!
