Evening everyone,
Uswitch: Save £165 on your energy bills this Winter!
Just a quick one to let you know that it is likely we are going to hear from Ofgem on Friday this week with an update on what the price cap will be from 1 January 2026.
Key facts:
- Current price cap: £1,755
- Anticipated price cap from 1 January: £1,733
- Cheapest Tariff on Uswitch today: £1,590 with E.ON
- Potential Savings: £165
The price cap change isn't guaranteed, this is a prediction from Cornwall Insights, which are generally very accurate with their predictions. Ofgem have guaranteed to give the update by Tuesday 25 November, but historically they like to give updates on a Friday so that people have the weekend to sit with the information before providing commentary on the Monday, so I expect the update to come out this Friday.
If you're still on a variable tariff, I'd say now is the perfect time to move to a fixed rate tariff. The colder months are here now, it literally snowed as far south as Guildford today, so your energy usage is about to shoot up. You can save significantly by switching to a fixed rate tariff, so click the link above and check how much you could reduce your bills by.
I'll be back with an update on the announcement when it is out.
Thanks all,
Richard Winstone
The Regulator Guy.
