You may have heard on the BBC this morning that the High Court case against Renault, Peugeot/Citroën, Ford, Nissan and Mercedes-Benz has begins today! This has been over 10 years in the making and will be just the beginning of what's likely to be the biggest class action lawsuit in years, outstripping the car finance claims that recently got justice and even bigger than the PPI scandal!

The trial is set to last three months for these 5 lead defendents, but if they are found to have been using cheat devices then 9 other manufacturers will likely have to face the courts. 

The big question: Is it too late to get my compensation? The answer is: not yet! There will eventually be a deadline, best guesses are that people won't be able to join the compensation claims from around the beginning of December, but that isn't set in stone yet so could be earlier. But for today, you can still check if you're eligible to join, just enter your car registration plates in the third link above and see if any diesel cars you've ever owned make you eligible for compensation.
