We're so absolutely amazed that this petition has hit 500+ signatures. Last year, 554 undergrads graduated from the engineering college, so it feels like an entire class has supported the need for this space!

Proposition 5 has recently passed, which has given the University of Houston the funding needed to support this initiative. Part of that drive was to prioritize bringing UH to a top 50 school, but also to remind all colleges that the skills gap is just as important as the academic knowledge. All departments, from Engineering to Music, from Business to Architecture, need a place to practice their skills and trades so they can apply their academic knowledge if we are ever to bring UH to a top 50 school.

For now, we are adding the Interim Dean and the Provost office to this petition in the form of email notifications. So now they know the voices of students matter, and to remind them that teaching students skills are the way to top 50. Please continue to leave comments, remind people of what this space would do.
