Tokyo Godfathers is one of the most heartfelt and unique anime films ever made — a holiday tale full of compassion, humor, and humanity.

Released in 2003 by legendary director Satoshi Kon, Tokyo Godfathers stands out for its grounded, emotional storytelling. Unlike his surreal films like Paprika, this one focuses on real people and struggles. Its 2020 4K re-release by GKIDS proved its continued importance — and it's long overdue for a collector’s steelbook edition.

It also holds a special place in the legendary legacy of director Satoshi Kon, whose other films (Perfect Blue, Paprika, Millennium Actress) have all received beautiful steelbook editions.

But Tokyo Godfathers remains the only one without a steelbook — leaving many collectors (and fans of Kon’s work) with an incomplete set.

We’re asking GKIDS Films, Shout! Factory, and any relevant rights-holders:

🎄 Please consider producing a limited edition steelbook release of Tokyo Godfathers.

With the holidays being the perfect release window, now is the time to bring this gem into the spotlight it deserves — and allow fans to finally complete their Satoshi Kon steelbook collections.

Satoshi Kon fans have created multiple fan tributes, documentaries, and retrospectives — proving lasting impact and active demand.
