The Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Association
May 25, 2016
Chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee, Senator Johnny Isakson (GA) announced in a hearing last June 2015 that he would have a vote on the "Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act" (S. 681). So far no committee vote has been scheduled. This FRA-supported bill would clarify a presumption for filing disability claims with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for ailments associated with exposure to Agent Orange herbicide during the Vietnam War. Congress should recognize that so-called "Blue Water" veterans, who served off the coast of Vietnam were exposed to Agent Orange herbicide. The bill authorizes presumptive status for VA disability claims associated with this exposure for this group of veterans. Please call the Senator's office 770-661-0999 to ask that the Senator honor his word and bring this important bill up for a vote in the veterans committee. Thanks to the FRA for this information. We also have included a little piece on the Secretary of the VA. Apparently he's a Disney fan.
