Give Stephon Clark a Place in the Community He Called Home
We are asking the City of Sacramento to honor Stephon Alonzo Clark with a commemorative street sign at the intersection of Meadowview Road and 29th Street.
On March 18, 2018, Stephon Clark's life was tragically cut short in Sacramento.
But Stephon was more than the circumstances surrounding his death.
He was a son. A father. A brother. A grandson. A friend. A young Black man with a future ahead of him.
His name became known across the country, but his family and community continue to carry the person behind the name.
Today, we are asking Sacramento to create a permanent reminder of Stephon's life, his connection to this community, and the legacy that continues through the work of his family.
Why Meadowview Road and 29th Street?
This location would place Stephon's name within the community that knew him and among the people who continue to remember him.
A commemorative street sign would not erase the pain of losing Stephon.
It would say:
We remember him.
We remember his life.
We remember his family.
And we will not allow his legacy to be forgotten.
Through the Stephon Clark Legacy and I AM S.A.C. Foundation, Stephon's family continues turning grief into action through healing programs, community initiatives, education, opportunity, and efforts to support families experiencing loss.
This is about more than a sign.
It is about remembrance.
It is about healing.
It is about community.
It is about legacy.
