Silver the Hedgehog is a character from the Sonic franchise who made his debut appearance in the game “Sonic the Hedgehog" commonly known as “Sonic 06.” It was released for Xbox 360 and PS3 and was made for Sonic’s 15th anniversary. It's absolutely hard to believe that this year 2026 will be the 20th anniversary of both Sonic 06 and Silver! 

Silver is a white hedgehog from the future with psychokinetic powers. He's also shown to be naive but is still a very nice guy with a kind and noble heart. In Sonic 06, Silver, along with Sonic and Shadow, were the three main playable characters in the game and had their own story modes. He’s one of my favorite characters from the Sonic franchise!

Since Sonic 06 was released for Sonic's 15th anniversary, it was supposed to be a very special game with very promising stuff. Unfortunately, due to the development team splitting and being rushed to have it released for the winter holidays, it ended up being a huge mess. It had long loading times, a crazy and complicated plot, and glitchy gameplay. It’s basically an unfinished game. I mean, Sonic 06 was still a good game but it was obviously supposed to be WAY better than the final version! Silver was one of the most well known issues of Sonic 06. Like I said before, his story and gameplay wasn’t very good either.  

In 2007, which was a few months after Sonic 06 was released, Sega came out with the game “Sonic Rivals” for PSP. Silver was made one of the main characters and even playable as well. But it seems the game reintroduced him because he and all the other characters didn’t know each other again. Although Sonic Rivals isn’t one of my favorite Sonic games, it was still a good one. In 2009, they came out with the sequel “Sonic Rivals 2.” Silver was once again one of the main playable characters and so was Espio the Chameleon who teamed up with him.

As far as I know, “Sonic Rivals 2” was the most recent main Sonic game to have Silver as a playable character. For a while, he was only playable in the Sonic sport titles like the Mario and Sonic Olympic Games series and the Sonic Racing games. Besides these titles, he appeared in other games but with minor and less prominent roles.

However, he did have major supporting roles in a few of the main Sonic games like “Sonic Generations.” Despite not being playable as usual, he still had a prominent role by being one of the main boss rivals. He also appeared in "Sonic Forces" but it seems his role was a little smaller though. And very recently, he was featured and playable in some app games like Sonic Jump and the most recent one called Sonic Rumble.

But Silver deserves much much more than all of this! It’s so unfair! All the roles he had so far besides Sonic 06, Sonic Rivals 1 & 2 and Sonic Generations aren’t enough! We need to see more of Silver! In fact, not only does Silver deserve more playable roles in the main Sonic games, but maybe even possibly his own game as well! In fact, I once came across an article that was titled, “Silver Might Be a Good Spin-Off Protagonist After All.” It seems the idea might already be considered after all! I believe a Silver spin-off game has so much potential and possibilities! Imagine showing Silver’s origins and background properly, more of his amazing powers, exploring his world, and possibly much more! 

Here's another thing that bothers me: Back in 2005, Shadow the Hedgehog got his own self titled game. But just like Sonic 06, it also wasn't very well received. It was still a good game in my opinion but I do admit that it could've been better and done differently somehow. But thankfully in 2024, which was nearly 20 years after the other game came out, Sega came out with a new special story edition of "Sonic Generations" called "Sonic X Shadow Generations." It seems to be a sequel to Shadow the Hedgehog (2005). The game was actually a huge success unlike the first game. But if Sega can do that for Shadow, then why not for Silver?! He also deserves something like this!

A spin-off game could be Sega's chance to make up for Silver's flaws and mistakes in "Sonic 06." I really think it’s about time that Sega brought Silver out of the shadows and into the spotlight where he belongs! We don't want him to be left on the side anymore! Please help me to urge Sega to give this unappreciated, but amazing Sonic character the spin-off game he truly deserves! Please sign and support this petition!
