Well the news has finally sunk in and to say I am absolutely delighted with the result would be an understatement!
Over the weekend we took to twitter and congratulated Anthony Nolan for their hard work and they also congratulated us on an INCREDIBLE campaign! We thanked our team here at CHANGE for allowing us to have a voice, as without them we would never have been heard! We also congratulated all the other blood cancer support groups like MDSUK who have worked so very hard and we thanked all the MP's that joined us on our fight.
But the real heroes here are YOU guys.
You are the ordinary people that joined our army and made our small voices heard, without the combined efforts of everyone on this campaign for sharing and signing we would have never been able to put the amount of pressure that we did on the Government to make a change. A change that happened so quickly it shocked us all! But what an amazing result for all those people that have now had their security blankets put back round them, I am just so happy to have been a part of this fight for justice for them!
Although elated as we both were we also wanted to remember the people that this decision came too late for, Sasha and I discussed this and these are her words, she really does have a beautiful way of speaking from the heart! "I am so happy about today’s decision for anyone who has had a bone marrow transplant - this is just the most incredible news ever! However, this decision is not in time for some and my heart bleeds pure pain right now for them......For you I am so so sorry, for you this news will never be enough, for you my heart will never go back together as a whole......For you I apologise how let down you have been........and for you, you will never ever be forgotten!"
Sasha is the most amazing thoughtful person, as bad as this journey has been for her, she still thinks of others and I promised her I would let those families know that we will never forget them!
So we will still be going to Parliament on 22nd March, but not to hand our petition in but to say a personal thank you to those MP's who have helped and backed the campaign all the way through! This will be such a great day and full of celebration for such an amazing end result.
As always I will continue to keep you all updated on how everything is going, but for now there is just one thing left to say and that is Victory!! We done it!! xx
