More and more people including students from other commuter schools know our struggle with this forced return to campus. We sympathize with out of province, international, and commuting students because it is hard and also expensive to find housing for such a short period of time with uncertainty of whether we go into another lockdown. The best compromise we can ask for is to allow online learning for those that need it and have in person lectures for those who want it. This divide of students attending lectures is the best solution as it may help with physical distancing and class sizes on campus, and it allows online learners to listen in live, with the already recorded lectures uploaded if needed.
Some professors have chosen themselves to stay online as they don't feel comfortable themselves going back in person as the university has done nothing in terms of reducing class sizes or handling physical distancing. Other professors have given the students the choice to choose if they want to try in person or stay online.
