While googling state symbols, it came to my attention that New York State does NOT have a state dinosaur. I think that is quite upsetting, especially as New Jersey has one. As an avid dinosaur lover, I think New York deserves one to proudly claim as their own. In 1972, the first dinosaur fossil discovered in New York was by Professor Dr. Paul Olsen and Robert Salvia. The fossil was a footprint from the Grallator, a coelophysis that lived approximately 200 million years ago. The fossil now proudly resides in the New York State Museum in Albany. To honor this achievement, New York State should recognize the Grallator  (Grallator-cursorius) as the official New York State Dinosaur.
