The world is being reshaped by Artificial Intelligence. To secure India's place as a global leader in technology, we must equip our brightest minds with the most advanced tools available. Currently, we are falling behind.

While the United States government has partnered with Google to provide its college students with free access to Google's AI Premium services, including the powerful Gemini Advanced, Indian students have no such advantage. This creates a significant gap, putting our future innovators at a disadvantage on the world stage.

We are calling on the Government of India to rectify this and level the playing field. We propose a strategic partnership with Google to provide students in our premier national institutions—the IITs, NITs, IIITs, AIIMS, and other Institutes of National Importance—with the same free access to Google's AI Premium services.

Why is this crucial for India's future?

• Achieve National Goals: This is a direct and powerful way to advance the missions of 'Digital India' and 'Skill India,' transforming our demographic dividend into a technological powerhouse.
• The Institutes of National Importance are the cradles of our nation's future. Investing in these students is investing in India's intellectual capital and its economic prosperity. The precedent has been set by the US. It is time for India to act.

We, the undersigned, urge the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology to immediately initiate a dialogue with Google India to make these essential AI tools freely available to students in our Institutes of National Importance.

Let's not let our future leaders fall behind. Give them the tools they need to build a stronger, more technologically advanced India.
