Give Ilya Rozanov His Curls Back: Put Connor Storrie in a Wig for Season 2

We understand that adaptations require creative decisions and that actors may need to change their appearance for other projects. However, there is a simple solution that would allow the production to preserve Ilya’s established appearance: a wig or suitable hairpiece.
The response from fans to Connor Storrie’s buzzcut has been overwhelmingly negative. This is not about demanding that Connor change his personal appearance. It is about asking the production to respect a character design that fans have loved and that is consistent with the source material.
There is also a fundamental character issue with making Ilya bald. Ilya's relationship with his Russian identity, his father, hockey, and masculinity is an important part of who he is. He grew up under his father's expectations of what a Russian hockey player and man should be, and much of Ilya's character is shaped by the complicated relationship he has with those expectations. His appearance is part of that identity. His long, curly hair is something that belongs to Ilya, not simply something that happens to be on his head.
Ilya has never shaved his head in the books, and more importantly, he is not the kind of person who would choose to do so. There is no reason to take something so deeply associated with his established identity and replace it with a look that fans do not recognize as Ilya. We do not want a storyline created to explain why Ilya would shave his head. We want Ilya to look like Ilya.
We are not asking Connor Storrie to keep his hair long. We are asking the production to separate Connor’s appearance from Ilya’s. If Connor needs or wants to have short hair, there is an obvious solution that allows both things to be true.
Give Ilya his curls back. Give him the wig.
