Give Families a Home: Fund Section 8

The Issue

Urgent Action Needed to Amend Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 and Address the Housing Crisis

Millions of Americans continue to face housing insecurity, leading to homelessness and exacerbated hardship. The Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8) is a vital resource for vulnerable populations including low-income families, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities, but it is severely underfunded and unable to meet the overwhelming demand for affordable housing.

Housing Crisis

As of 2023, more than half a million Americans are experiencing homelessness on any given night, and over 10.2 million households are spending more than 50% of their income on housing (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, 2023). The rising rental rates and overall cost of living are making it harder for families to make ends meet.

Call to Action

Help us urge Congress to support amendments to the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 (42 U.S.C. § 1437f). Proposed solutions include increased funding for Section 8 vouchers, robust anti-discrimination protections, and enhanced portability and accessibility.

Together, we can make housing accessible for all.
