Petition Welland and Deepings Internal Drainage Board to remove the ban on fishing in the Vernatts, South and North Drove drains and Counter Drains. More than half the council tax we pay goes to the drainage boards so the public should be permitted to access these waterways for leisure, pleasure and wellbeing. Historically fishing has always been permitted. As a public body, funded by the public, Welland and Deepings IDB has acted beyond its remit in banning recreational access to these waters. There has never been any consultation before bringing in a blanket fishing ban. Welland and Deepings IDB is alone among IDBs in banning fishing.
