Hello All:

The story of this petition is in a new book authored by my friend, Natalie Foster!! It's called The Guarantee: Inside The Fight for America's Next Economy. 

The book chronicles all our work together to rally and distribute money for the people during the COVID-19 pandemic. As Natalie writes, by working together, telling our stories, and putting pressure on elected officials, we got our government to issue not one but: 

“two separate stimulus checks to go out to nearly every American household, as well as expanded unemployed insurance checks for the millions of Americans who were out of work…we demonstrated the population of direct cash payments and the relative efficiency of the mechanism to deliver them.” 

In her book, Natalie links this petition to a bigger story about the economy that we deserve in America. Unlike the scarcity-obsessed thinking that’s marked the last forty years, a Guarantee Economy guarantees an economic floor that allows all of us - in the richest country on earth in the richest moment in history - to build lives of dignity, agency, and presence. 

It’s exactly the kind of message we need right now as we’re staring down another election and trying to figure out what comes next for all of us. 

So,  order the book or request it from your local library. Did you know that libraries buy books when people request them, so if you can get your library to buy it,  it will mean more people get to read it in your community.
