Hi Everyone – I have not written in awhile. I hope you and your families are doing OK. Honestly, I am frustrated and struggling to find the energy to go back into fight mode. The last 3 weeks have thrown our country back into the anxious feelings and uncertainty that ruled 2020. But if we have been here before, shouldn’t it feel different? Shouldn’t we have more of a plan? 

People keep asking me about a 4th stimulus check. But this petition has always been about recurring relief we can count on. My belief is that we should not be talking about more one-time checks. This is exactly the kind of moment when we’d want to know that there is some sort of trigger in the economy to provide certainty for our well being.  

I’ve silently listened to the round and round debate on the ending of the eviction moratorium, funding to house and feed our most vulnerable, mask mandates and more. But if we had simply created a trigger in the economy that would re-engage stimulus checks to begin again, we would be having a different conversation. 

I haven’t processed the last year+. Like so many of you, I just stoically move forward, pivot and survive. But I continue to find hope in this community of people – which is still growing every day. We know that our government can and should do better for us. And this petition continues to drive a weekly national conversation about how.
