Hey everyone! Sorry it's been a while since I've put an update up, but it's that time of year again with exams! (Good luck to all of you taking them!)
Firstly, to address the issue of this election: Parliament is dissolved and it is extremely unlikely that we will be able to vote in this election. However, keep spreading the word and hopefully we will put enough pressure on the new government to lower the voting age, so 16 and 17 year olds can vote in the 2022 election.
Secondly, with Party manifestos being released any day now, parties have been starting to show where they stand on this election.
Labour, Lib Dems, Green Party and the SNP have included in their manifesto that they want to lower the voting age to 16. UKIP and the Tories are against it: Theresa May has ruled out enfranchising 16 and 17 year olds. There is an article on the BBC that I have attached so you can take a look to see what May and other party leaders have said.
We can't give up now at such a crucial time. Let's keep signing and show whoever comes into power on the 8th of June that we want the vote and deserve a say in our future! #WeWantTheVote
