Senior citizens are also impacted by the missing pedestrian bridge link. One comment on the petition is from a senior who expressed they have been hit by road gravel several times in the face as the cars are so close and travelling so fast.
I have heard seniors are worried about becoming unbalance and landing in live lanes of traffic. I have also heard seniors expressing the sidewalk along Fairway Rd N is so too hot, too dusty, too loud, too busy, too dangerous and too smelly with the exhaust fumes.
A healthy community should be safe and accessible for everyone. Vulnerable populations like seniors and children should be cared for, protected and given the same access to the community as anyone else. A community for all, not just some.
Currently Fairway Rd N is the ONLY way out of this community. This primary walking link would provide a safe alternative.
Please personally ask your community, friends and family to sign and share this petition. Social media likes and shares are wonderful but the personal asks are the ones that yield the follow through.
