The Issue

Despite being reported for almost a year Standard Hill Top, North Elham on the outskirts of Elham has fallen into such disrepair it almost unusable. The road that runs from Henbury to Lickpot Hill poses a danger to anyone who uses it.

Vehicles are sustaining damage, ALL road users are being put a risk. Cyclists, motorcyclists, horse riders, walkers, everyone. The pot holes have become so large and the phenomenal amount debris means no one is able to pass without potential damage or injury. When it rains the pot holes become indistinguishable and impossible to avoid even if you know the road very, very well.

It is only a matter of time before someone sustains a serious injury. A child on a bike could easily misjudge a pot hole. A horse could spook, lose it's footing and injures itself and it's rider. A motorbike rider or cyclist taking swift action to avoid an oncoming car/pedestrian/tractor etc. I really is a matter of time.

Everyone struggles to use the road safely. Emergency vehicles, delivery vehicles, tractors, farmers checking their stock, residents and visitors alike.

The council did a cold fill which washed away with days. Local farmers have filled the holes on occasion in an attempt to improve the situation.

It's over a year since the potholes were reported and there is no sign of any action to get this resolved.

Please sign our petition to help us get the road repaired before someone gets seriously injured or worse.

Thank you
