1.6 million people in the UK have an eating disorder according to the Priory Group and more young people are being diagnosed with them than any previous generation. In the latest episode of Mental Podcast we covered eating disorders including another petition I’m supporting. Hope Virgo is campaigning to take the weight restrictions out of diagnosis and support after being refused treatment for not being ‘thin enough’.

In the petition she highlights - ‘individuals are turned away from receiving essential support because they aren’t skinny enough to be considered at risk. This leaves the individual feeling like they aren’t worth getting that support, feeling like a “fake”, potentially losing more weight to hit that target and in some cases feeling suicidal. This is why I’m calling on the government to review the eating disorder guidance delivered by clinicians.

Please join me and sign her petition as we work towards greater mental health support for all - https://change.org/p/dumpthescales

Also you can find the latest podcast episode where we cover this and interview Tom Rebair on Apple Podcast, Spotify, Stitcher or via the website.

Many thanks, Bobby Temps
