Bundaberg is an incredible place to live and visit, however, it's unfortunately very difficult to get to, making it feel isolated due to the limited flight options available and it's long driving distance from Brisbane of over 4 hours.

Currently, the only flights to Bundaberg are Qantas from Brisbane, and come with a hefty price tag which most of us can't afford, and even if we could, the only option being Brisbane isn't very helpful when you need to get to or from Melbourne or Sydney.

For residents like myself, whose families reside in Victoria and New South Wales, the absence of flight options, specifically affordable ones, poses significant challenges. This issue doesn't just affect me; it impacts countless others in similar situations, striving to maintain connections with loved ones.

Our region holds a growing population of over 106,000 people, bolstered by a flourishing tourism sector. Unfortunately, this potential is stifled by the lack of diverse and cost-effective airline services.

The introduction of Jetstar flights directly from Bundaberg to both Sydney and Melbourne would be a game-changer. It would not only strengthen family ties, allowing hundreds of individuals easier access to their loved ones, but also invigorate local tourism, economic growth, and job creation. Direct flights would provide opportunities for businesses, foster tourism, significantly reduce the travel expenses burdening our community and most importantly reduce our excessively high death toll our on our roads.

Bundaberg’s appeal as a tourist destination would multiply, inviting an influx of visitors eager to explore our renowned Bundaberg Rum Distillery, the beautiful beaches, the Mon Repos Turtle Centre, the Great Barrier reef and much more.

An investment in airline infrastructure by Jetstar will undoubtedly yield significant returns, bolstering Bundaberg’s economy and strengthening its ties with major Australian cities. We call on Jetstar to consider the incredible demand and potential growth that direct flights could unleash. Let us connect Bundaberg with these vital hubs and provide our community with affordable, accessible travel solutions.
