I still need to finish both the 2022 Urusei Yatsura and the original 1981 Urusei Yatsura. Honestly, the 1981 series deserves a proper English dub now more than ever. Back when it first came out, anime wasn’t nearly as popular in the U.S., so many classic series never got the attention they deserved. Because of that, there are a lot of older anime gems that American audiences have never really experienced.

 

The 1981 Urusei Yatsura actually did receive a BBC dub years ago, but it failed badly and was canceled. Now could be the perfect time to give it another chance. A new dub could open the door for other classic anime to finally get dubbed too, letting a new generation enjoy them.

HIDIVE especially should consider dubbing both the 1981 series and finishing the dub for the 2022 remake, since they still haven’t completed it. If they don’t, we might miss another opportunity to experience this beloved anime fully in English dub.
